The Lagos Corner Team (Nigerian corner)
This year, the Nigerian Corner at the Notting Hill Carnival celebrated its 38th anniversary. Thanks to the sponsorship from the Lagos State Government, the corner was rebranded as Lagos Corner, marking a significant milestone in the continued celebration of Nigerian culture at this iconic event.
The Lagos Corner(Nigerian Corner) at this year’s Notting Hill Carnival was nothing short of spectacular, affirming its stellar reputation with unparalleled flair. A dazzling celebration of culture and rhythm, the event featured top Afrobeats DJs, dynamic hype men, renowned artists, industry leaders, and distinguished officials from Lagos State.

The atmosphere was electric, with the area teeming with a lively crowd whose enthusiasm was palpable. The blend of music, food, drinks, and exuberant energy created a vibrant tapestry of joy and festivity.
As soon as the DJs began their sets, Afrobeats anthems flowed seamlessly, each track igniting the crowd’s ecstatic response. The scene was a testament to the powerful connection between music and community.
Ayo Shonaiya, the visionary behind the Lagos Corner, and his longtime collaborator DJ Abass have expertly curated this corner of the carnival for an impressive 38 years. This year, the event reached new heights with sponsorship from Lagos State’s tourism department. The delegation, led by Hon. Solomon Saanu Bonu, Chairman of the House Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, added a significant touch of official prestige. Also in attendance were Dami Ayinde Marshal, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Tourism, and former Commissioner for Information, Hon. Steve Ayorinde.
For many Nigerians at the carnival, the Lagos Corner was a heartening home away from home—a unique opportunity to bond with fellow countrymen and celebrate their shared heritage. As it marked its 38th year, the Lagos Corner continued to exemplify the vibrant and resilient Nigerian spirit, always ready for a celebration.
