President Bola Tinubu.

A group under the aegis of the 21st-century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience ) 21st CYNDAC has described President Bola Tinubu’s silence over the unending political crisis in Rivers State as disturbing, worrisome, and unacceptable.

In a statement by the leader of the 21st-century youths of the 21st CYNDAC, Izon Ebi, the Niger Delta group while condemning the long silence of the President, noted that the reason for the current crisis and skirmishes by political actors in Rivers State was nor far fetched, saying that President Tinubu has refused to call the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA and former Governor of the troubled state, Nyesom Wike to order.

The group warned that the avoidance of doubt, Wike’s quest for political control of a state governor and government apparatus should not be sanctioned and approved by Mr. President as it seems to be at the moment. Instability in Rivers State will surely snowball into instability in the region. This will put paid to the renewed Hope agenda. A stitch in time saves Nine. Mr. President should call Wike and his lackeys to order.”

According to him, the reason for the political crisis in Rivers State is a fight between a renegade political Godfather and a godson as well as a resistance to the capture of state resources and institutions for the use and benefit of a godfather and his people.

Ebi stressed that no citizen is more citizen than the other and no one has a monopoly of violence or nuisance value than anyone else and as such, people should respect themselves and allow peace to reign for the development and progress of the state.

The statement read, “The 21st-century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience ( 21st CYNDAC ) condemn the silence of Mr. president to call his Minister to order. The reason for the political crisis in Rivers State is not farfetched. It’s a fight between a renegade political Godfather and a godson; it’s a resistance to the capture of state resources and institutions for the use and benefit of a godfather and his loyalists.

“The 21st Century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with conscience ( 21st CYNDAC )use this medium to admonish the adversaries to allow peace to reign and allow state institutions to function according to the dictates of the Constitution. There is no position in the Constitution whereby a man becomes a state and openly boasts of making a state ungovernable and the Federal government.

“With all the country’s instruments of coercion is loudly silent and tactily giving support to a godfather without taking cognizance of the welfare of citizens of the state into consideration. Undermining the authority of the state governor by laying siege at local government headquarters by the Nigerian police is an act of taking partisanship to the extreme as the past government of Barr Wike sacked a duly elected local government council and replaced them with caretaker, the Police or any other agency of government never laid siege on the council areas even though Ameachi was also a Minister and was in a chummy relationship with the then President.

“The 21st century youths wants to put it on record that there is no political instability in Rivers State as the citizens and residents are fully in support of the Govt. Of Similaye Fubara. The action of police in the sealing of the local government council is partisan and complicit, it doesn’t speak well of a public institution that is meant to be non-partisan.

“That the public, security agencies, and even the residents are aware and know the people deliberately trying to foment a situation of unrest in the state, the explosion of the IED during the last protest is a pointer to where the unrest is coming from. The security agencies need not look far to apprehend the culprits.

“Finally, the 21st-century youths and Agitators with conscience want to reiterate, that no citizen is more citizen than the other and no one has a monopoly of violence or nuisance value over anyone else and as such, those renegade political lackey boys should respect themselves and allow peace to reign for the development and progress of the state. It should not be on record that the backing of Mr. President is the reason for the orchestrated political unrest in Rivers State.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Wike’s quest for political control of a state governor and government apparatus should not be sanctioned and approved by Mr. President as it seems to be at the moment. Instability in Rivers State will surely snowball into instability in the region. This will put paid to the renewed Hope agenda. A stitch in time saves Nine. Mr. President should call Wike and his lackeys to order.”
