- A Nigerian lady identified as Faith Onodu has won the sum of $25,000 (over N25 million) after participating in a giveaway contest on social media.
On Monday, MrBeast, an American YouTuber and online personality, revealed that he made more than $250,000 from his first video posted to X.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, shared what appeared to be a screenshot of X’s creator payment screen, showing the post had earned $263,655.
Following his payment from X, MrBeast would later announce his plans to give away the money he earned to 10 people.
“I am gonna give 10 random people that repost this and follow me $25,000 for fun (the $250,000 my X video made). I will pick the winners in 72 hours,” he wrote on X.
On Friday, the YouTuber announced the winners of the giveaway, one of whom is Onodu, a Nigerian lady.
Onodu, also known as Lifestyle Spicer, is a nutritionist, fitness trainer, content creator and YouTuber.
Reacting in a post via her X page, Onodu expressed her excitement for winning the cash, describing it as “unreal”.
“Someone wake me up, I can’t believe my eyes! This is unreal,” she said.
MrBeast is known for his fast-paced and high-production videos, which feature elaborate challenges and large giveaways.
With over 234 million subscribers, he is the most-subscribed individual on YouTube and the second-most-subscribed channel overall.
In July last year, Elon Musk, the owner of X, launched a program to share part of the revenue from ads displayed in the replies to high-performing content with the creators who post it, so long as they subscribe to the platform’s premium service.
The program aimed to encourage more creators to post high quality content to X that would be appealing to advertisers.
